Guy: So um, I’m here for a job interview…?
Me: Oh, just go down the stairs [points to the staircase], turn around, and head straight into the office.
Guy: [Pause] And…how do I get down?
Me: You…walk down the staircase.
Guy: Oh…okay… [Looks confused still, but heads over anyhow.]

This is the second time someone’s asked me how to get downstairs in the university bookstore while standing next to the staircase and after having me point it out. At some point, I’m just going to blurt out, “Left foot, right foot?” in response. Perhaps I should suggest this as a screening process for possible employees: disqualify those who get confused by stairs.

Sometimes I feel much older than my age; sometimes I act much younger. I write a lot about my feelings because they are so often ignored otherwise. On some bad nights, all I want is to be able to let go and cry next to someone who offers hugs in place of judgment.

It has been a bit of a rough couple of weeks. In terms of personal life, anyway.
