Alive, but barely

Originally, I was going to write a complete Wordcamp wrap-up, but planned on waiting ’til I got all my photos uploaded, and as I’m no longer sure when that’s going to happen, here’s a cobbled-together post of updates instead! Last month may or may not have been the very last time I’ll be volunteering/attending Wordcamp in San Francisco (more on this in a bit), and it was good fun. I was in an even more interactive volunteering position than usual due to helping Lloyd and co. out at the Genius Bar and got to drop in to see three or four sessions this time around.

What’s been keeping me busy lately is school — which I did not expect, considering I’m taking just four classes and it’s my last semester (I’ll be graduating come December). It’s not only the current semester workload though, but also the necessary preparation for grad school applications (international students have deadlines a year in advance) and the GRE. With all this and work, I found it more and more difficult to balance everything, and finally had to give notice to my manager earlier, thus ending my internship at the end of the week. I will miss it, and this is definitely not the way I wanted to leave, in a rush, because of lack of time, but the future’s looming ahead and I need to be prioritizing. After considering my options, I’ve decided to go for a Master’s in Human-Computer Interaction and apply to schools in other states (and possibly Canada too!), because 1) there weren’t any around here that would be affordable at this point, and 2) growing up in California, I’ve wanted to experience life elsewhere. I haven’t fully finalized which places I’ll be applying for yet, so if you’ve got suggestions for a decent public school with my preferred field of study, I’m open to suggestions, although the university I’m leaning towards most right now is Washington. So, changes are afoot, even as this blog remains unchanged. Is there ever enough time?

  1. I think Seattle is a good choice! I would love to move there. I want to move someday but I’m not sure when.
