Lately, there’s been a few memes going around in which people tag others to share a number of facts about themselves. A friend happened to tag me with one that requires you to share 25 things, but since I can’t come up with that high an amount of vaguely interesting facts about myself, here’s a random list of 10, in no particular order:
- The first song I ever loved was Habañera. Apparently, the aria was playing around the house when all of a sudden, my mother felt me moving from within the womb. I was born hours after and it still makes me happy to listen to Habañera to this day.
- I’ve been working since the age of 16, with my first job being a tutor at a K-5 after-school center, which I did for about three years. The main subjects I focused on were Math and English, and on occasion, I entertained the (younger) kids by reading aloud storybooks of their choice.
- When my family moved just before I entered third grade, I became shy and introverted as The New Kid. I distinctly remember sitting by myself in the playground when the principal took pity on me and came over to keep me company before asking some other classmates if I could join them in jump rope.
- On a similar note, I somehow became a tetherball champion in elementary school.
- I have never taken a single geography class/course. This fact still does not excuse my woeful inability to identify places on a map.
- When I broke my arm after falling off a bike awhile back, the doctors discovered a cyst in my shoulder. It was suggested that I get surgery, but we decided to wait a bit to see how things panned out and I eventually healed on my own, though as far as I know, the cyst is still there. I can write passably with my left hand though as a result of the whole incident.
- Although my sister and I are very, very different, we apparently sound the same with our initial “Hello?” when picking up the phone. Before cell phones were commonplace, friends and relatives (including our mom) used to mix the two of us up all the time on the landline.
- The one time I’ve gotten my ass grabbed by a stranger was at Disneyland, funny enough. The happiest place on earth indeed.
- There was a period when I was completely addicted to McDonald’s fries and would eat a large order as an entire meal. From time to time, I might still do so nowadays for lunch. I imagine that when my metabolism slows down, the effects of my whims will start to show in a much more obvious fashion.
- One of the most mortifying moments in my life was when I attempted to go for a first kiss with my first boyfriend after three months together…and missed. We laughed it off, but oh, was I dying inside. I’m still not sure I’ve ever fully recovered.
