I’m Elea (pronounced as “El-lee”). Sometimes I can be snarky, sometimes I become introspective, and other times I’m undeniably nerdy. Things I like to do include taking photos, writing, reading, singing, and bowling. This does not, however, guarantee a impressive array of skill for any of the aforementioned. I am highly proficient in the art of staying up way later than I should though. In December 2007, I adopted a spunky little terrier mix of a dog, putting me one step closer to becoming that Crazy Animal Person. Currently, I reside in the Bay Area and work in web design/development.

Why is your name spelled that way? Is it short for anything?
Well, traditionally Elea is a nickname for “Eleanor”, and you usually see it spelled out as “Ellie” or “Elly”. In my case, however, it’s not short for anything. I was actually supposed to be named Ariel, but my father’s grasp of English left something to be desired and I ended up with this name instead (which I prefer infinitely anyway).

Are you sick? Why all the posts re: hospitals/doctors/neurologists?
Since 2007, I have had a medical condition that mainly manifests itself in the form of myoclonus. Doctors are stumped as to whether it’s a mild form of epilepsy or a movement disorder and my health tends to go up and down. Sometimes I deal with it just fine and other times, not so much, in which case, you’re likely to see me write about it.
